Industrial/Commercial Projects


Since its inception in 1968, ERC’s has successfully completed a variety of projects involving industrial/commercial real estate development, housing, technical assistance, and small business lending.

ERC Business Park

In less than one year after its establishment, ERC had acquired vacant and underutilized land on the borders of the California cities of Compton and Lynwood to develop a business park to provide low-cost rental facilities for industrial uses.

The first two phases of the development, during 1971-1976, encompassed 214,000 square feet in seven buildings known as the Mini Industrial Complex. This project was truly one of the nation’s first incubators, providing technical and financial assistance to start-up business leasing space in the complex.

ERC Business Park has 864,983 square feet of industrial space in 17 buildings providing facilities for over 50 business that employ 1300 people.

Martin Luther King Jr. Shopping Center

proj_1-300x189Located in the Watts community of Los Angeles, the 118,000 square feet. Martin Luther King, Jr. Shopping Center was constructed in two phases during 1981-1985. The ranch-style commercial center was the first major development in the central business district of Watts since 1965.

Today the center houses a major supermarket, pharmacy, lending institution, restaurants, and professional services.
