California Enterprize Zone Program (EZ)
Effective July 1, 2014, the new sales tax exemption replaces the existing enterprise zone sales tax credit, which has expired on December 31, 2013. This program offers a statewide, partial sales tax exemption for approximately half of the state sales and use tax paid on up to $200 million of manufacturing or R&D equipment purchased by the unitary group. The exemption is available to manufacturers and some companies conducting R&D, but is not available to some agriculture, extractive, and financial companies. The exemption will be suspended July 1, 2022.
